Enugu State Nigeria was filled with uncontrollable tears at the funeral of Late gospel sonorous singer Ifunanya Nwangene who was laid to rest Saturday afternoon, dated 14th February, 2026 as 9News Nigeria reports.

Her committal to mother earth on the mid hours of Valentine’s Day 14th day of February was significant to humanity and to the lover’s world across sexes.

14th February is a date set aside by Roman Catholics for the remembrance of St Valentine across the world but was turned a mourning day for the Nwangene family of Enugu State and their well wishers.

Nanyah’s burial was filled with tears from friends, relatives, her siblings and parents and most importantly her choir group and the Catholic Church.

At the funeral, the priest consoled the crowds of sympathizers that stormed the church and called for closer relationship with God while breathing. The clergy noted with sympathy the services Late Ifunanya rendered in the Catholic church both home and her Abuja residence and prayed God to rest her soul.

Recall that Ifunanya Nwangene popularly called “Nanyah” was bitten by a cobra snake while she was asleep in her upstairs residence in Abuja Nigeria.

Such scenario raised much talks, rumours and tension leading to the actual cause of Ifunanya’s death.

Rumours have it that Ifunanya belongs to the snake world while speculation has it that she rears snakes as pet. Some versions of rumours was that she has something strange with snake or that demonic agents may have projected snake to cut short her choral life.

Until a medical report was released by the head of clinical Services FMC Abuja DR. BIOKU MUFTAU,
HEAD OF CLINICAL noting that Ifunanya Nwangene died of complications from snake bite.

“We wish to address the circulating discussion on social media concerning the unfortunate case of Ms. Ifunanya Lucy Nwagene, who tragically passed away due to neurotoxic complications following a snake bite on January 31, 2026.

First and foremost, we express our deepest condolences to the Nwagene family during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of a loved one is never easy, and our thoughts are with them.

We want to clarify that the management team at Federal Medical Centre, Abuja acted promptly and with the utmost care upon Ms. Nwagene’s arrival. Our medical staff provided immediate and appropriate treatment, including resuscitation efforts, intravenous fluids, intranasal oxygen, and the administration of polyvalent snake antivenom.

After a thorough but quick evaluation, it was clear that Ms. Nwagene suffered severe neurotoxic complications from the snake bite. Despite all efforts to stabilize her condition and transfer her to the Intensive Care Unit for further treatment, she experienced a sudden deterioration just before the transfer. Our team of professionals worked diligently to provide CPR and other life-saving measures; however, despite these efforts, we were unable to revive her.

We stand by the quality of care and dedication our team demonstrates daily. The claims of non-availability of anti-snake venom and inadequate response are unfounded and do not reflect the reality of the situation. We are committed to transparency and integrity in our practices and will continue to pursue excellence in patient care.

In light of these events, we encourage our community to engage with credible sources for information and updates rather than relying on social media speculation. We remain available for any further inquiries or clarifications”

Left to mourn her are her siblings, parents and close friends. Ifunanya Nwangene, the gifted singer who tr@gica@lly lost her life following a sn@ke b!te at her Abuja home, was l@id to rest today Saturday Valentine’s Day Remembrance, in her hometown of Nkanu East LGA, Enugu State Nigeria.
