EX- DEPUTY GOVERNOR ADA OKWUONU AND OTHERS MADE LIST:
Few hours ago, Senator Hope Uzodinma of Imo state inaugurated four boards of government agencies, namely Civil Service Commission, Local Government Service Commission, Imo State Internal Revenue Service and Imo State Universal Basic Education Board.
This he said is part of our administration’s efforts to strengthen the machinery of governance and ensure that effective service delivery runs smoothly.
Speaking to the press, Governor Uzodinma hinted that it took the Government time to ensure that qualified and competent men and women are appointed to serve in these sensitive positions of authority, through which very consequential decisions affecting the people of Imo state will be taken.
The governor therefore, congratulated the new appointees for scaling through the integrity test and other rigorous selection processes to arrive successful.
He however welcomed them to shared prosperity family and made it absolutely clear to them that their appointment is nothing but a call to selfless service to Imo state and her people.
Uzodinma futher stated that, In the past, government appointees usually saw their appointment as an opportunity to ” come and loot “. But this is a different era.
He charged the directors to come and invest their integrity for the service of the people and showcase their expertise, to come and work and give their best to Imo people.
In doing so, they should not be carried away by praise singers who only will sing their praises to confuse and deceive them into believing that they are the best thing ever created by God, hence their well deserved new position.
He told the appointees to be articulate in the discharge of their Official functions because once any of them fall for this cheap ego dressing, the person has begun his/her inglorious decent into the Hall of failed public office holders.
In his words “To succeed you must remain vigilant with your eyes firmly focused on the ball”
‘This warning is necessary because this administration has a zero-tolerance for corruption. We have no room for indolence, nepotism, high-handedness or any form of indiscipline’
He had earlier said that these APPOINTMENTS came on merit and glowing antecedents and cautioned them to demonstrate accountability and decorum in the discharge of your duties.
The governor also warned that he will not hesitate to relieve them of their duties if anyone is found wanting while praying that they are expected to make consequential decisions on behalf of the government.
That means they must be manifestly circumspect and conscientious in all their dealings.
Uzodinma re-assured that the government will avail the appointees of all the necessary tools and resources to help them execute office assignments.
