Police in Delta state Nigeria has beefed up intelligence gathering and security in collaboration with Vigilante groups, following the Killing of Youths of the community in the area.
Our Delta state reporter said that the Killing of a young man Ekene by five suspected members of a particular cult group caused a reprisal and counter reprisal attacks over a period of five days.
At the time of filling in this report by 9News Nigeria, the police has swung into action following a tip off by community leaders who raised alarm and invited the police for arrest.
The police has therefore confirmed that three persons were killed in Ogwuashi- Iku Community in Delta North local government area of the state during clashes by rival cult groups.
A call to the police Public Relation officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the Killings while promising thorough investigation and prosecution of cult members involved in the Killings.
The PPRO said those who died were members of Aro Barger and Aiye confraternities.
The PPRO told the press that the clashes has continued over four days until the intervention of the police.
Meanwhile one of the suspected cultists who was nabbed by youths of the community revealed where his gang buried the body of Ekene.
There is calm in the area while the people are told to go about their normal activities. Arrest of suspected cult members have continued at press time.
