The Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not live a lavish lifestyle, despite public perceptions.
Adedeji made the statement on Channels TV while responding to a question on whether he was concerned about the perception that people in government live in luxury while many Nigerians continue to struggle with poverty.
In defense to the President, the NRS chairman said Tinubu often walks from his residence to his office and only uses a vehicle when travelling to the airport.
“Mr President goes from home to office on foot, not even driving except when he is going to the airport. I don’t know where you see the convoy,” Adedeji said.
His comments follows public concerns over the cost of governance, official lifestyles and the economic difficulties facing many Nigerians.
Adedeji’s remarks sought to counter the perception that President Tinubu’s administration is disconnected from the economic realities confronting ordinary citizens, highlighting what he described as the President’s relatively modest movement between his residence and office.
