The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved lifetime salary benefits for senior officers retiring at the ranks of Deputy Controller, Comptroller, Commandant-General and above.
The announcement was made on Thursday during the 2025 Ministerial Retreat, where Tunji-Ojo outlined key achievements of the ministry and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional capacity across its agencies.
According to a statement issued by DCF P.O. “We have successfully cleared the long-standing backlog of promotions,” the statement quoted Tunji-Ojo as saying.
He added that henceforth, career advancement for officers would be determined by a new framework that prioritizes ability and performance.
The minister also revealed that updated training manuals have been introduced, while work has commenced on a state-of-the-art Fire Academy to boost professional development and emergency response capacity.
