President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed the return of 100 Catholic students abducted from Papri Catholic School in Niger State, Nigeria.
He commended security agencies for their efforts in securing their release and urged them to intensify efforts to rescue the remaining 115 students and teachers still in hostage.
In a statement, Tinubu expressed joy over the safe return of the students and assured parents that both Federal and Niger State Government are working together to reunite all abducted students with their families.
He emphasized the need for for security agencies to prevent future kidnappings, stating that Nigerian children should no longer be a targets for terrorists.
The abduction occurred on November 21, 2025, and while 50 pupils managed to escape, the fate of the remaining students remained uncertain until now.
The incident has drawn international attention, including from United States President Donald Trump, who has threatened military action cover alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
