Professor Abubakar Mohammed El-Jummah of the Nigerian Army University, Biu, Borno State, has reportedly passed away while being held by Boko Haram insurgents after close to a year in detention.

Funeral prayers in absentia (Salatul Ga’ib) are scheduled to take place today Thursday, Febuary 12, 2026, at about 2:00pm ay the Ngomari Old Airport Juma’at Mosque, located behind his residence.

According to Rariya, the deceased had been in custody of the insurgents from March 2, 2025, until the of his death.

May Allah grant him mercy and forgive his shortcomings.
