Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued 21 kidnapped victims and dismantled several bandits camps during a coordinated forest operation in Plateau State.
The operation took place in Daji Madam Forest, a known hideout for criminal elements, where troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade, working alongside operatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser, carried out a targeted clearance mission based on intelligence.

Security sources revealed that the troops raided multiple bandits enclaves in areas such as Dogo Ruwa and Bogwas, dislodging the criminals and destroying their camps in the process. The operation also forced several bandits to flee under pressure from advancing troops.
The rescued victims, who had been held in captivity, were freed during the operation and are expected to received medical attention and reunite with their families.
The latest success highlights ongoing military efforts to clear forested hideouts used by armed groups across Plateau and neighbouring areas, where banditry and kidnappings have remained a major security concern. Similar operations in recent days have also led to the destruction of criminal hideouts and arrests of suspects in the state.
Authorities say clearance operations will continue to ensure that fleeing bandits are tracked and prevented from regrouping.
