The United States has activated MQ-9 Reaper drone operations in Nigeria, working alongside approximately 200 U.S troops to support intelligence gathering and counter terrorism efforts across the country’s northern region.
The drones are active conducting surveillance and reconnaissance to Nigerian military commanders engaged in operations against terrorist groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP.
These advanced aerial assets are operating from Bauchi airfield in Northeast Nigeria, forming a critical part of a coordinated security effort.
On ground, U.S. troops are fully engaged in training and advisory roles, strengthening the operational capacity of Nigerian forces.
Through a joint U.S -Nigeria intelligence fusion cell, both sides are collaborating closely to identify, track, and respond swiftly to evolving threats.
This coordinated military partnership between Nigeria and the United States now delivers enhanced intelligence capabilities directly supporting ongoing operations against insurgent networks.
