In a bid to connect the two nations together in peace and harmony with the popular game of golf and foster better relationships, a destination management company, Ufitfly is drawing Nigerian golfers to Seacliff Golf Resort in Zanzibar, to vie for honours with their Tanzania counterpart.
The continental Golf Tournament which is part of his drive to enhance sports tourism in the country according to Evang. Ogunkeyede Ajibola, the team leader of the firm will be held from 13th to 21st of February, and is specially designed for golfers to join the leisure trip to Zanzibar organized by Ufitfly.
Golfers from many notable clubs in the nation such as Ibadan Golf Club, Ikeja Glolf Club, Ikoyi Golf Club, Abeokuta, Ilorin, Micom Golf Ada, Smokin Hills, Ilara-Mokin, Abuja Golf Club, Port Harcourt Golf Club and others have signified interest to play in the epic tournament tagged: ‘Playing golf and connecting with nature’.
“The rationale behind the tournament is to connect the two nations together in peace and harmony with the popular game of golf, as we all know that sports brings people together irrespective of race, colour and gender, the idea is to use golf to preach peace to all and sundry”, Ogunkeyede noted.
Nigeria Nollywood Star, Lateef Adedimeji who is now trying to embrace the game of golf is the celebrity that will lead other tourists on the leisure trip to one of the most beautiful Islands on the planet.
While explaining the qualities of the Seacliff Golf Resorts, which is the only golf course on the island of Zanzibar, Ufitfly boss added that “golfers will enjoy our 9-hole Matkovitch course with its clubhouse, under-cover driving range and practice greens, while enjoying the natural features of the island.
“To top it all, two of the last holes are played along the Indian Ocean. The course has been designed with variation in distance and direction on the front and back 9 to create an experience of playing full 18 holes. The course has a par 71, which includes short and long par 4’s and a couple of drivable options”.
“The course is rounded off by an international standard practice facility, including a full-length driving range with chipping, bunker and putting greens. A resident golf pro is available for lessons to help individuals and players perfect their swing. Hotel guests get preferential rates and tee off times and can hire golf carts and clubs.
