Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., is set to deliver the prestigious Yoruba Tennis Club Centenary Lecture on Thursday, August 6, 2026, as part of activities marking the Club’s 100th anniversary.
The lecture, themed “Democracy and the Imperative of Good Governance: Renewing Hope in Challenging Times,” will take place at the Greetings Hall of the Yoruba Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
The landmark event will be held under the distinguished patronage of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Patron of the Club; Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Vice Patron; and Alhaji Dr. Femi Okunnu, CON, SAN, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Trustees.
As Guest Speaker, Governor Eno is expected to present his administration’s transformative ARISE Agenda, highlighting its impact on democratic governance, economic growth, inclusive development, and improved service delivery in Akwa Ibom State. He will also offer perspectives on strengthening democracy and advancing good governance amid Nigeria’s evolving socio-economic landscape.
The Centenary Lecture is one of the flagship events commemorating the Yoruba Tennis Club’s century-long legacy of excellence, leadership, fellowship, and national service. The occasion is expected to attract an array of distinguished personalities from government, the private sector, academia, the diplomatic corps, and civil society for high-level discussions on democracy and nation-building.
Chairman of the Yoruba Tennis Club and Centenary Planning Committee, Bro. Engr. Olawunmi Gasper, said Governor Eno was chosen as Guest Speaker in recognition of his administration’s remarkable developmental achievements and visionary leadership over the past three years, describing his governance model as one worthy of national attention.
The Akwa Ibom State Government welcomed the invitation as a strong endorsement of Governor Eno’s growing national profile and commitment to good governance, inclusive growth, and democratic ideals. It also encouraged Akwa Ibom indigenes, friends, and supporters—especially those in Lagos and its environs—to attend the historic event in solidarity with the Governor.
The government further congratulated the Yoruba Tennis Club on its centenary celebration and wished the institution continued success as it embarks on its second century of promoting excellence, unity, and leadership.
