The Traditional Ruler of Umudibia Autonomous Community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo state , His Royal Highness Eze Godwin Merinini has commissioned another security gate built through community effort in Umudibia.
The gate covers the Umuerim route from FEDPONEK entrance, while that of River side, Big tree, mechanic village, Umuoma axis including Fedponek back gate, all inclusive in Umudibia community are next to Kickstart accordingly.
The gate was officially opened Friday at the Umuerim Junction along Federal Polytechnic Nekede gate amidst crowd of witnesses from all the towns in Umudibia. Umuokomoche gate and Umuerim gate are intact at the time of filling this report by 9News Nigeria.
Speaking with Newsmen at the commissioning, the Monarch highlighted the importance of gate installation targetted at investing hugely on internal security checkpoints at gray areas and locations in Umuofocha, Umuerim, Umuokomoche, Umuokoto and within the poly back gate to check the excessive of insecurity, in and out of Umudibia Autonomous Community.
9News Nigeria reports that at completion of these commendable gates installations across the Umudibia community, the investment will consume a humongous amount of resources and committed resilience by Umudibia people.
Recall that the Umuokomoche -Umuerim gate project is commissioned while the remaining locations captured by our correspondent will commence according as Eze Merenini hinted.
The traditional ruler therefore called on the government of Imo state Nigeria through the Owerri West local government council chairman, Hon Victor Osuigwe IKEOHA to assist Umudibia to boost security.
He however thanked the efforts of government so far, in checking insecurity but harped on the immediate need to mobilize security personnel and operatives on steady routine patrol in Umudibia community and other neighbouring communities and forests in the area as 9News reports.
On the bad condition of roads and refuse disposal in Umudibia, Eze Merinini pleaded with the shared prosperity administration ably led by Governor Hope Uzodinma CON to come to their rescue haven reeled out the challenges bedevilling Umudibia community coupled with the huge students (Fedponek ) population in the area. He however thanked Governor Hope Uzodinma for approving the re-commencement of Nekede -Ihiagwa-obinze road project/Ihiagwa bridge and pleaded for its completion to capture Umudibia community roads. “Our community link roads need maintenance. Through community efforts, we have been trying to grade the roads but major needed more assistance from government to make the lik roads motorable.
Link roads connecting Umuoma Nekede through Holy sisters of the needy , Nekede secondary school, Fedponek junction, Umuokomoche towards both junctions at Assemblies bus stop and Umuofocha maternity bus stop. The link road continued from Umuokoto junction via mechanic village and connects aba-owerri main express road. At government intervention on these link roads, there will be easy accessibility and free traffic, as investigated by 9News Nigeria.
Eze Merenini frowned at a recent incident of abduction of an Umudibia indigene, notable son and an enterprising figure by suspected Kidnappers which took the community huge ransom and swift efforts by the acting PG Dr Oziri and his team to rescue the Son. Similarly abduction happened again openly in the community where two children from same family were kidnapped at Umuerim junction. Ransom was paid to restore calm and life in the area.
The Acting President General (PG) of Umudibia Autonomous community, Rev Dr Jessy Oziri applauded this move by Umudibia people through their Traditional Ruler Eze Merinini to establish investment on security check and gate projects at significant location in the Umudibia.
On the opening of the Umuerim gate ,Nze Victor O. Nnadi- Nkechinyere-1 of Umudibia poured his heartfelt traditional libation on the gate ,asking the gods of the land to preserve the community and expose secret minded fellows, disgruntled residents or suspicious indigenes hiding under the guise of the community to perpetuate evil.
Evangelist Prince Ikemdinachi also blessed the gate and thanked the Traditional Ruler, Acting PG, Youth leaders and Umudibia people for remaining in one bloc to execute the project to check herdsmen attack, abduction and crime.
On behalf of the Youths, Sir Timothy Oziri and Benjamin Edoziem spoke in unism, thanking God for the effort invested to accomplish the security gate project without misunderstanding or war. Recall that it was at the inception of Timothy Oziri, the mountainous waste at the popular dust bin along Nekede/Ihiagwa road via Nekede secondary school axis was removed but the heap of refuse has continued causing destruction of the road and traffic congestion at press time.
Former councillorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress APC party in the Area, Hon Red Gate Chidiebere Agim aligned with this success story and called for a rebuild of security in Umudibia community with the help of government and homeland security while thanking the traditional ruler Eze Merinini and every Umudibia person that supported and played commendable roles to the success of the commission of the security gate project.
In furtherance, Eze Godwin Merinini reassured his commitment to maintain peace and progress in Umudibia Autonomous community while pleading with his subjects to embrace love amongst all. He added that the community General election suspended by the Owerri West local government council will soon be lifted to allow free and fair election of new officers. He frowned of being slighted by the council and called for a rethink and sound resolution.
