Over the weekend, Umuoma Nekede Autonomous Community in Owerri West Local Government area of Imo state Nigeria had a Reconciliation and Inauguration of their Community Executives ably led by HON.UCHE NWANERI INSTALLED AS COMMUNITY PRESIDENT GENERAL PG.
This has been an age long event expected to hold after series of lingering crises that bedevilled the community leadership.
Our correspondent who covered the event in Owerri reports that the approach showcased by the leaders of Umuoma Nekede over this settlement is a sure indication that the unity government will in no distance time improve the wellbeing of the people in this area.
Addressing Dignitaries at the occasion, the traditional ruler of Umuoma Nekede Autonomous community, his royal highness HRH EZE MORRISON EKE PHD, Omadike of Umuoma Nekede, challenged the new Executives to make Umuoma a place of progress in Nekede.
Eze Omadike however charged the Uche NWANERI led Executives to organize themselves to make the community the best in Owerri West while that the pocketing of Community money into personal pockets has set the area backwards.
The monarch however charged the Excos to be transparent in managing the resources and to set up good policies and programs to make sure that the youths are redirected to do meaningful work than involving in criminalities and drug abuse.
High Chief Kennedy Zanders while speaking told the newly sworn in leaders that if they will continue to sustain the peace and unity showcased in the occasion of the Inauguration, the light will continue to shine to to the next generations.
The chief executive of the number one indigenous radio station from Nekede, ZANDERS FM OWERRI and the National PRESIDENT of Nekede Federated Union NFU, Chief Zanders cheerfully promised the community a new SOLAR PANEL and a Public Adress System to stand as a remembrance of the day of Umuoma peaceful reconciliation and Inauguration of her leaders.
In his words, CHIEF Tony Ajoku (TACO) reassured Umuoma Nekede of his support to peace and unity in the community stating that MEZIE UMUOMA Nekede is a socio- politicial group that stand for truth and realization of progress in the land.
The DPO Nekede/Ihiagwa divisional police headquarters, CSP STANLEY OSIEFO adviced the UMUOMA PEOPLES ASSEMBLY UPA to caution their youth to live a good and free crime life while stating that Umuoma Nekede from the statistics of crime report is safe and peaceful.The COMBATANT DPO had earlier hinted his readiness to stamp down criminals and to “smoke out” people caught with light weapons in their possessions.
In his response the PG UCHE NWANERI spoke on behalf of UPA Executives and read out his 7-points AGENDA to better the community.He Expressed gratitude to the NFU, THE POLICE, AND STAKEHOLDERS for fighting this Course to the end which according to him begot the success stories. He futher told Umuoma of their readiness to change the old narrative and promised to make ODU yam festival a classical occasion.

The event featured creme de la creme of notable personalities, traditional rulers, law enforcement agents, security intelligence, politicial leaders, Government appointee, Diasporian representatives, Clergymen, youth and women groups, town Chairmen and Distinguished members of the press, 9News NIGERIA, and the general public.
The occasion was a top notch which was ended by a church thanksgiving service at Holy Trinity Church Nekede and grand reception at Umuoma civic center Nekede Owerri Imo state.
