The 84-year-old woman had to go to the hospital after being pepper sprayed in the face.
Oklahoma police released a body cam video of an officer pepper spraying and hospitalizing an 84-year-old Black woman after shooting her son with a stun gun last week.
The Muskogee police officer first attacked the woman’s son for running a stop sign, and when he entered his mother’s house, they sprayed the elderly woman. The department’s attorney said that the action was justified “given the totality of the circumstances,” reported the Muskogee Phoenix.
The woman, Geneva Smith, is demanding an apology from the department, which also came under fire last year after an officer shot and killed a Black suspect.
