All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN dismissed claims that it is demanding N2,000 payment from farmers before they can get farm inputs.

In a statement signed by the Assistant Public Relations Officer, AFAN, Alhaji Salisu Mukhtar, on Saturday, AFAN said the demand must have been made by fraudsters not connected to AFAN.

AFAN noted was bad for fraudsters to hide under its name to ask farmers to register with N2,000 to obtain farm inputs.

With the dry season farming about to commence, usually, farm inputs were supplied under the National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agro Pocket, NAGS-AP for use by farmers.

Or, such inputs could also be made available by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and AFAN has urged farmers to discard the demand for N2,000.

“CAVEAT EMPTOR: The Nigerian Farmers and the general public are hereby warned that some unscrupulous people are seeking to defraud farmers by asking them to pay the sum of N2,000 ( Two Thousand Naira only) purportedly belonging to AFAN.

“They falsely claimed that they are working in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which confirms that they are fraudulent because the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has been renamed as the l Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

“All farmers and the general public are unequivocally warned not to enter into any dealings with anyone claiming to take any money from them for registration to obtain any input supply or activity under the National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agro Pocket, NAGS-AP, or Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, FMAFS.”
