A new militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, yesterday announced that it has not entered into any ceasefire deal with the Federal Government to stop hostilities on oil facilities in the upland areas of the Niger Delta region.
It also dismissed as untrue reports tagging the group as Urhobo militant group, calling on the military to halt further invasion of Urhobo communities in the name of searching for members of the group.
The group made this known on Sunday in a statement released by its Spokesperson, Aldo Agbalaja. The statement called on residents around oil and gas facilities within the region to vacate as it has planned to attack such facilities in the coming days.
“Another thing, we have observed is an organised plot to tag us an Urhobo group, thus the frequent and deliberate characterisation as such by a section of the media, especially Vanguard and Thisday.
“This attempt has been followed up by a reckless military invasion of some Urhobo communities. As for the operatives and the operations of the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, the wind is invincible.”
It said it was continuing its hostilities against critical oil installations because the government of the day led by President Muhammadu Buhari had not shown any reason why the group should halt attacks oil facilities in the region.
“For the avoidance of doubts, we have seen no reason to halt our anger against the Nigerian Federal Government; not when the oppressive system has yet to move a muscle to respond to our requests.”
