The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) has stated that the military is yet to confirm the death of Brigadier-General Musa Uba who was abducted by ISWAP, clarifying that the officer remains officially classified as “Missing in Action” (MIA)
In a interview with Channels Television , General Musa said Uba’s body has not been recovered so no one can be certain that he is dead.
General Musa stated that there are rumors suggesting that General Uba may still be alive. He said the military is still making efforts to recover him safety from the hands of ISWAP.
“We are not sure that he is dead, because we have not seen any corpse yet. Normally what they (ISWAP) do when they shoot is they leave the body for you to recover. So he is classified as missing in action, not killed in action yet.
“We heard rumors that he is still alive, we are hopeful that he is still alive”, he said.
The Defence Minister’s latest statement provides a significant update to a case that has gripped the nation’s security establishment for months, offering a glimmer of hope to the officer’s family and colleagues.
