As it is the culture of Nigeria politicians to deny palpable, tangible and publicly known evidence, a faction of the People Democratic Party (PDP) sponsored by Mr Nyesom Wike, the FCT minister has denied that his party met the African Democratic Congress (ADC) yesterday in Abuja, Nigeria.
But as seen by other Nigerian within the country and beyond the shores of the country, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN met with leaders and stakeholders of African Democratic Congress (ADC) yesterday Wednesday 8th April 2026 at Senator David Mark house in Apo in Abuja.
In the PDP delegation were high-level leaders comprised of H.E. Seyi Makinde, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, H.E. Sen. Adolphus Wabara, GCON, Prof. Jerry Gana, H.E. Babangida Aliyu.
Others were, H.E. Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, Hajiya Inna Ciroma, Gen. Ishaya Bamay, Rt. Hon. Fred Agbedi, and the PDP Publicity Secretary Comrade Ini Ememobong
A Press Statement signed by the PDP Publicity Secretary confirms the visit in this tone: “The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid a solidarity visit to the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the recent political attacks targeted at Nigeria’s opposition parties.”
“During the visit, the PDP acknowledged the growing and shared threat confronting opposition political parties in the country, noting that similar pressures have been experienced by the PDP in recent times. The delegation emphasized the need for vigilance in the face of actions capable of undermining democratic principles and political plurality”.
They further acknowledged the warm reception of ADC and captured their reaction as follow:
“In their response, the ADC leadership expressed appreciation to the PDP for the visit and reiterated the existential threat facing democracy in Nigeria, particularly through the targeted weakening of major opposition parties.”
But in the spirit of a divided house allegedly promoted by Wike faction Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the
National Publicity Secretary of the faction of PDP published a denial of the party meeting with ADC on what he tittled ‘Disclaimer on Purported Meeting Between PDP and ADC’
As contained in part of the Press Statement dated April 8, 2026, the faction said:
“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has noted with concern the circulation of misleading reports alleging that it held a meeting with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
“The PDP categorically states that it has not held any meeting, formal or informal with the ADC or any of its representatives.”
“The PDP firmly states that no such meeting was convened or authorized by the Party. Any persons reported to have participated in such engagements did so purely in their individual capacities and cannot be deemed to represent the PDP in any form.”
The Press Statement ended by cautioning its members, supporters and the general public to disregard such meeting and further reminded them of the
preparations for the conduct of Party primaries which is progressing significantly.
