Why Jonathan Visited IBB, Abdulsalami Abubakar

Sources have revealed the reason why Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday met separately with former military President, Ibrahim Babangida, and a former military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their Hilltop residences in Minna, the Niger State capital.

Goodluck Jonathan arrived Babangida’s residence at about 11am and spent about one hour with ‘the evil genius’ before he left for General Abubakar’s house which is situated right opposite Babangida’s house.

Goodluck Jonathan was accompanied by a former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, from Zamfara State and his former Chief of Staff, Chief Mike Oghiadome, from Edo State.

In a clear show of the seriousness of the visit, Ibrahim Babangida received Jonathan in his private living room as against the common visitors’ room. The meeting lasted for about 50 minutes.

Although the details of  discussions between the former Nigerian leaders were not made known to journalists, sources confirmed that the visit was connected with the President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war and how it had been affecting Jonathan’s relations, particularly his wife, Dame Patience.

Although unconfirmed, sources revealed that the current situation of the Peoples Democratic Party, the postponement of Edo Elections among other burning issues were discussed.

Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami however raised concerns over the spate of bombings going on in the Niger Delta by the Niger Delta Avengers and asked Goodluck Jonathan to help reverse the trend
