Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has made history by becoming the first African artiste to surpass 10 billion streams on Sportify.
According to the latest figures released in January 2026, Wizkid now leads to the list of Africa’s most-streamed artistes on the platform. He is followed closely by fellow Nigerian star Burna Boy, who has amassed more than 9.5 billion streams, while Tems has crossed the 4.4 billion mark.

South African singer Tyla has recorded 3.7 billion streams, with Nigerian artiste Ayra Starr close behind on 3.3 billion streams WizKid’s achievement comes after more than a decade of global success. Drake’s hit song One Dance, on which Wizkid featured, accounts for nearly 4 billion streams, while Essence, his collaboration with Tems, has generated over 334 million streams.
His third studio album, Made in Lagos (Deluxe), remains his most-streamed project in Spotify, with more than one billion streams. As a lead artiste, Essence stands as his most-streamed song on the platform, with over 333 million streams.
However, American singer Billie Elish has also set new Sportify record. Her song Bird Of A Feather has overtaken Tones and Dance Monkey to become the most-streamed solo song by a female artiste in the platform’s history.
Bird Of A Feather recently reached 3.37 billion streams, surpassing Dance Monkey, which currently stands at 3.3 billion streams.
