Youth Advocates for Good Leadership and Charity, (YAGLC) an advocacy group working on promoting good leadership and effective governance, has launched a Magazine to recognize and honor the achievements of Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum.
The launching took place at Babagana Wakil Integrated Islamic School on Sunday in Borno State’s capital, Maiduguri, during a program.
The event was in collaboration with the state’s Ministry of Information and Internal Security.
With the title “Zulum: Crisis Manager, Leading Through Insurgency” the Magazine aims to acknowledge some of Governor Zulum’s achievements during the seven year of his tenure.
It also highlights key achievements of the governor, especially towards peace building, fight against insecurity, humanitarian interventions and other developments.
In his speech during the event, the coordinator of YAGLC, Mohammed Ibrahim said that the program is aimed at recognizing and celebrating the impact of good leadership in Borno State.
He noted that under Governor Zulum’s leadership, Borno State has “witnessed remarkable development despite facing insecurity and other challenges.”
Also known as Amb Ramadan, the coordinator explained that, without quality leadership, Borno would have been in rubbles by now, adding that “such achievements deserves recognition and celebrations.”
The Deputy Registrar Student Affairs, Ramata Polytechnic, Mal. Babagana Hussaini reviewed the magazine, analyzing the impact of key policies and projects highlighted in the magazine.
Part of the program is a Secondary School poetry competition on Peace, Safety and the Dangers of Conflict. Also, a panel discussion on; Building Lasting Peace: Role of Youth, Women and Community Leaders was part of the program, with participants drawn from the media, students and advocates.
The Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo and the General Manager, Borno State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) Engr Dr. Mohammed Musa Aliyu were present at the event.
Jere Federal Constituency aspirant, Adam Mohammed Jere and others were also present at the program.
YAGLC is also into youth empowerment programs through entrepreneurship development among other things.
