Yobe Governor Gave Stern Warning To Contractors On Delay, Sub-standard Projects

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has warned contractors over unnecessary delays and sub-standard work on his government projects.

The governor gave the warning on Monday in Damaturu while addressing government officials, as disclosed by his spokesman, Mamman Muhammad in a release.

He said that such practices would not be tolerated in his administration.

“Government would live upto its responsibility and we expect every contractor to live upto its responsibility of the agreements reached between government and contractors,” Buni said.

According to the statement the governor has also charged Projects Monitoring Committee to intensify monitoring and evaluation to ensure timely and quality execution of projects in the state.

“This is to ensure that all projects comply with contractual specifications, stand the test of time, and are beneficial to our people,” he said.

Similarly, Buni has directed site engineers attached to projects, to not compromise contractual specifications and report sub-standard works.

He said that all projects executed by the state government should be valued in line with the policy of accountability, a practice, he noted is being promoted by his administration.

The directives, he explained is to ensure all projects comply with contractual specifications, stand the test of time, and are beneficial to the yobe state people.

“We must have value for money expended on all the projects being executed by the state government.

“This is in line with the policy of accountability being promoted by this administration,” Buni said.
