Amid persistent insecurity and recurring deadly attacks, the Zamfara State Government has budgeted N1 billion for the construction of cemeteries across 14 local government areas of the state.
The allocation is contained in the state’s approved 2026 budget under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, at a time when several communities continue to experience violent assaults linked to banditry.
The budgetary provision comes against the backdrop of repeated killings across the state. On Wednesday evening, bandits reportedly ambushed residents of Kyaram community, killing at least five people, with several others still missing.
In a related attack, at least four residents of Gwargwaba village in the Nahuce District of Bungudu Local Government Area were killed on January 29, 2025, after suspected bandits stormed the community.
