The immediate past governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada has apologized to the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Kogi Chapter for all his shortcoming while governing the State between 2012-2016.
Captain Wada who also apologised to party members who he may have in one way or the other wronged while serving the state made this known in his Odu Ogboyaga country home while addressing party members and well wishers from the length and breadth of Kogi East.
While calling for unity in the party, the former governor noted that he was human and prone to mistakes.
He said it was imperative that members of the party in Kogi East and other senatorial districts in the state united.
He noted that whatever success the party achieved in the past was as a result of unity that existed between the party echelon and the people.
He went further to assure the people that imposition of candidates on the electorates was a thing of past in the party system.
“Our problem as a party has always been that of manipulation and it is all over, but hence forth, the people will decide who their leaders are going to be,” he said.
He appealed strongly to party leaders in the State to put aside their differences and work together in other to make the party stronger and greater than it used to be.
At the meeting, a former majority leader of the House of Assembly from Bassa LGA, Hon. Adakeke announced his intention to decamp from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to PDP with hundreds of his supporters.
Another leader, a former House of Assembly member, Simon Attaoga from Abocho, expressed dissatisfaction with the abysmal performance of ruling APC.
He informed the gathering that himself and his supporters were ready to work for PDP.
Captain Wada in his response acknowledged the doggedness of the two intending members of the party and assured them that they were not going to regret the decision as it was a step to the right direction.
The former governor urged the party faithfuls and supporters to remain calm and to continue with the heavy mobilization into PDP.
He stated that the time had come for genuine reconciliation and not for fault finding.
