Age is just a number: How 60-year-old Argentine emerged Miss Buenos Aires.

A 60-year-old lawyer and journalists, Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez, has won the title of Miss Universe for the Province of Buenos Aires.

AƧcording to Buenos Aires Times, Rodriguez’s win not only symbolizes a personal achievement but also signifies a broader cultural shift towards inclusivity and diversity in beauty pageants.

Rodriguez, who hails from La Plata, the capital city of Argentina’s Buenos Aires Province, will now represent her Province in the upcoming national selection for Miss Universe Argentina, schedule for May, 2024.

Her victory is a testament to the the Miss Universe Organisation’s recent decision to remove age limits for contestants, opening the door for women of all ages to participate starting in 2024.

In an interview with El Trece, Rodriguez said : “I am happy to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants. We are inaugurating a new stage in which women represent not only physical beauty but another set of values. I am the first of this generation to start with this”, Rodriguez said, expressing her excitement.

She attributed her win to the confidence and passion to represent women of her generations due to the recent modifications in pageant regulations including the elimination of strict age limits.

She triumphed over 34 contestants of varying ages, ranging from 18-73 years old.

Miss Universe 2024 will be held in Mexico. The country has hosted the pageant four times in past: 2007, 1993, 1989, and 1978.
