A brilliant Nigerian scholar, Muizz Jimoh, has achieved an extraordinary academic feat at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), earning a First-Class Honours degree in Geology and Mineral Science with an outstanding 4.90 CGPA.

What makes his achievement even more remarkable is his record of 60 As and 7 Bs out of 67 total courses — a rare level of consistency in one of the university’s most demanding science disciplines.

His exceptional performance earned him the Best Graduating Student of his department and several prestigious awards within the Faculty of Physical Sciences.

Muizz began his academic journey at UNILORIN in 2021, driven by a passion for earth sciences and a strong determination to excel. Over four years, he balanced academics with leadership, mentorship, and volunteer roles — all while maintaining stellar grades.

He served as the General Secretary of the NMGS/NAPE Student Chapter, Financial Secretary of AMGEOS, a Student Mentor for the Division of Student Affairs (DSA), and a Volunteer Tutor in his department.

“It was demanding, but it helped me grow. I learned to stay consistent, even when things got tough,” Muizz shared on LinkedIn.

In a social media post, Muizz shared his disciplined study system — a simple yet powerful routine that guided his success. He woke up at 5:30 a.m. to study before classes. He studied at least one course intensively each day, following the syllabus closely.

Structured Timetable: He divided his study hours into focused time blocks: 8–10 a.m., 10–12 p.m., 12–2 p.m., 2–4 p.m., and 8–10 p.m.
Exam Strategy: For computer-based tests (CBTs), he focused on mastering course outlines topic by topic.

For Theory Courses: He created mock questions and answered them as though he were the lecturer. Night Routine: Before sleeping, he revised everything he had studied that day and recalled it again the next morning. Offering advice to other students, he emphasized discipline and consistency.

“Do what you say you’ll do. You’re an adult now — hold yourself accountable. There’s no single way to success. Be calm, prayerful, and focused,” he said.

Muizz’s hard work and excellence earned him multiple honors, including:

Scholar of the Year Merit Award from the UNILORIN Student Union, Human Personality and Scholar of the Year Award from his faculty, and Academic Icon and Executive of the Year Award from his department. Expressing gratitude, he credited his success to the support of his lecturers, mentors, and peers.

“Every recognition symbolizes the countless nights of effort and the grace of God,” he said.
