A 9 year old Akwa Ibom pupil of Mobil Pegasus Schools, Miss Mmekudmfon Wilfred Effiong has won the best prize for the National Creative Writing Competition.
Miss Effiong , a primary 4 pupil of Mobil Pegasus Schools, Eket scored a massive 32.7 to beat others, including her first and second runners up competitors to come top as announced by the award organizers via online , 5th August 2023.
The competition organized by Raising Young Authors with sponsorship from NNPC,Total Energy ,SPDC and Agip Ventures, had participants cut across different schools from all States of the Federation.
The competition, according to its organizers is to encourage young and talented writers fulfil their dreams of becoming future and celebrated authors.
Speaking to this reporter, Miss Effiong expressed deep gratitude to God and her teachers, lauded her teachers for what she described as the ‘wonderful academic drilling’ given her.
” My preparation for the National Creative Writing Competition wasn’t a waste. With help from my wonderful teachers, who created the space from their busy schedule just to drill me and my amazing parents who encouraged me even when I felt tired.
” I emerged first place in the State and not only in the State but at the Nationals, I’m very grateful.
” I’m grateful to the organizers of the event for the beautiful prize I received , thank you,” she said.
The talented Eket-born, Ibesikpo Asutan Whizz-kid recently at the end of the academic session of Mobil Pegasus Schools, Eket won almost all awards at the Award Of Prizes ceremony. She went home with the award for the Best in Literacy, Best in Sciences, Best in Mathematics , Best in Social Studies , Best in English and overall best in class 4.
