The Akeredolu Support Organisation (ASO), yesterday, alleged the destruction of posters and billboards of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN).
ASO in a statement signed by APC’s Director of Publicity, Mr. Steve Olaloro, said members and supporters of Governor Olusegun Mimikoled faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), destroyed and defaced Akeredolu’s billboards and posters during the celebration of the ruling granting Eyitayo Jegede, the right to appeal the judgement that declared Jimoh Ibrahim as the rightful candidate of the party.
Otaloro said PDP members, who took to the streets to celebrate the court ruling did not only deface posters and billboards of the APC candidate, but uprooted all bill-boards of ACO in sight.
“This was done without the governor restraining them due to the soaring popularity of the APC candidate among the people of the state,” he said. He added:
“Mimiko is intimidated by the mammoth crowd and the high celebration with which the Akeredolu Support Organisation is being welcomed into all the towns and cities he had visited since our flagged off campaign for APC candidate Barrister Akeredolu in the forthcoming governorship election.
“Governor Mimiko had attempted to prevent the display of our organisation’s posters and campaign messages in public as he unleashed the state signage agency to stop us but for the fact that we had paid all the required fees to the agency. We are appealing to our members and supporters not to retaliate to such barbaric acts.”
