NEW YORK, UNITED STATES — A breathtaking marriage proposal atop one of the world’s most iconic skyscrapers has become one of this week’s biggest international stories, as renowned rooftoppers Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus were released on supervised release after scaling the spire of the Empire State Building in a stunt that captivated millions while reigniting global concerns over security and the growing influence of social media-driven extreme adventures.
The Russian couple, already famous for climbing some of the world’s tallest buildings without ropes or safety equipment, allegedly spent several hours inside the landmark before gaining unauthorized access to restricted maintenance areas and ascending the building’s 1,454-foot spire during the early hours of July 1.

Ironically, the Empire State proposal has generated even greater worldwide attention than the documentary itself.
