The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has organised a 2-day stakeholders national conference to pray for security challenges in Nigeria,
The conference with the theme “Role of Arabic and Islamic Education in Advancing Peace and Harmony in Nigeria”, was organised in conjunction with Ansar Foundation at the National Mosque, Abuja.
Speaking with journalists on Monday, NBAIS Acting Registrar, Professor Muhammad Shafi’u Abdullahi, said the conference was put together to organise a special prayer for Nigeria because of the frightening state of insecurity which the nation is currently passing through.
He said there is need for the board to contribute its own quota to the challenges because prayer according to him towers above every other thing.
“Prayer is really great and nobody can undermine the power of prayer. To our understanding, it is only prayer that can solve our problems in Nigeria and that is why we chose this time most especially the month of Dhul Hijja and specifically within the first ten days of this month and we believe that Almighty Allah will answer our prayer and solve our problems.”
While agreeing that there is need to seek assistance from countries like the United States, Britain, France and others to tackle the security situation in Nigeria, Professor Abdullahi said prayer is greater than anything. He called on Muslims to allow the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to be their guide in whatever they are doing or engage in.
According to the registrar, day one is dedicated to prayer while day two which is Tuesday will see presentations of papers which will also center of security challenges in Nigeria and how to overcome it.
