Marriage is Close to God’s Heart
SHARE

There is an explanation why, after hundreds of years, marriage is still around. It has merit.  It is conventional.  It offers stability.  It makes for companionship.  Two people can depend on each other.  A good marriage can include all this.

On the other hand, a great marriage is a godly marriage and can also be a ministry. Once a couple is able to find that intimacy of love and honesty, they can reach out and help others find it.  Seeking the respect and love for each other will strengthen a marriage and make it last.  There are plenty of folks who choose not to get married in today’s world, but there are still many more that do choose marriage.

“It is not good for man to be alone.”

from Genesis 2:18 is a reminder from God that we benefit from having someone to share our lives with together.  First and foremost, we need a relationship with God.  He wants us to know Him, to love Him and to serve Him.  As this happens, He will help us find a mate.  Too many people look in all the wrong places for their significant other. God wants us to be happy and that means relying on Him to help find a suitable partner.

We were made to experience intimacy even though we fail miserably in our relationships.   God wants us to view marriage the way he made us – in His image.

Those who work at marriage, that is, honoring God, will come to realize that husband and wife must take care of each other and do so diligently.  It is a life-long dedication.  It takes hard work, too.  It may not always be easy, but it will be worth it.

Marriage is sacred and therefore should be treated with the utmost care.

It means putting your partner before yourself.   Marriage should be a reflection of the relationship God has with us.  If you need to work on your relationship with God, start now, the beginning of a new year and then watch as miracles occur. Don’t trust me, try it and see.
