The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has tendered an unreserved apology to Nigerians especially passengers who missed their time for flights and those that were left stranded at the airport facilities due to a power outage.

Passengers were on Saturday stranded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos after a power outage hit a section of the airport, 9news Nigeria learnt.

Though the country has been experiencing power outages in the past few weeks due to the collapse of the national grid and that has affected the airports with the power challenge worsening in the past three days.

It was learnt that the departure lounge of the International Airport was the most affected on Saturday.

“I suffered this morning while boarding. Power just suddenly went off,” a passenger said.

It was, however, gathered that the generator that serves as a backup for the airport developed fault over 24 hours ago.
