The 58-seater bus procured by Government of Adamawa State have started operation in three local governments areas of the state.
The state government had in August this year approved over a billion Naira for the procurement of the ten luxurious buses as part of palliative to cushion the hardship visited on residents of the state as a result of the removal of subsidy.
According to multiple reports, the buses hit the roads in the three metropolitan local government areas of Yola North, Yola South, and Girei on Tuesday, charging a flat fare of N100 per route.
Mohammed Ahmed, one of the revenue collectors of the buses confirmed that the fare of N100 per drop is collected and a receipt issued indicating both takeoff and destination points.
Jimeta to Yola Town, for which Keke NAPEP, the sole form of intercity transportation before now, would charge between N250 and N350.
Girei to Jimeta Modern Market, for which Keke NAPEP was charging at least N350, and Sangere to Jimeta Modern Market, which used to cost at least N250.
The above places were among the routes covered by the buses and would now cost the residents N100.
