In a significant breakthrough, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) troops have successfully unveiled and dismantled an illicit weapon manufacturing facility in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This operation driven by actionable intelligence, represents a major step in Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) continuous efforts to combat the illegal arms trade, enhancing safety and security in the State and its surrounding areas.
The discovery of the deadly weapons factory is the outcome of a meticulously executed intelligence – led operation conducted by the troops, resulting in the recovery of a cache of automotive weapons and associated equipment used in fuelling conflicts and mayhem in Plateau and Southern Kaduna.
The seized items include , 6 AK47 riffles, 4 sub – machine guns, 11 AK riffle bodies, a pistol, and 7 AK47 bridge blocks among others. Additional drilling machine set and hand -filling machine were found.
In conjunction with confiscation of weapons and production equipment, two suspects directly involved in illegal weapon production and distribution, Michael Dung, 33, and Yusuf Pam, 43, were apprehended OPSH, working closely with Law enforcement agencies, is committed to ensuring that those responsible for criminal activities and their accomplices face the law accordingly.
