NIGERIA’s best recommended functional anti graft agency, Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) alleges 58 former governors misappropriated N2.187 trillion over 25 years, with ongoing investigations worldwide.

It may surprise our readers to note that notable figures included TA Orji, Yahaya Bello, Ayo Fayose, and James Ibori, among others, with amounts ranging from millions to billions as 9News reports.

Meanwhile, 9News Nigeria reports that this is gross misconduct and should not even be a topic of discussion why this seemingly tagged dirty and evil politicians are not in custody for crippling the economy but we know Nigeria is not a place where corruption and embezzlement is punished. Nigerians now hope Tinubu’s administration would restore faith in EFCC.

According to the EFCC’s allegations, a significant number of former governors, totaling at least 58, have alleged to been involved in the misappropriation, embezzlement, or laundering of approximately N2.187 trillion over a span of 25 years.

This amount does not include properties seized worldwide or those currently being investigated, which amount to billions of Naira.

The amount of N2.2 trillion that was looted is similar to the combined budgets of Lagos State and the South-East states for 2024, totaling N2.25 trillion and N2.29 trillion respectively.

This figure exceeds the budgets of the North-Central states and North-East states for 2024, which are N1.89 trillion and N1.60 trillion, by several billion.

Simply saying, the Judiciary is the final arbiter in this judgement because as Nigerian bigmen and people of established heavyweight in Nigerian politics, most of them uses courts to safeguards themselves while the matter retire to a lowest common multiple cum oblivion.

But from samples of opinion gathered by our correspondent, the eyes of every Nigerian is widely open to see the end of this cases surrounding the ambits of EFCC and the Judiciary.

The result of this cases will surely be a great plus or minus in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, Nigerians hail thee. This is a commendable work by the EFCC while sending warning signal to every Nigerian in public offices.
