Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang at the weekend was honored with the Independent Best Governor of the Year in Community Empowerment category.
The award presented by Daily Independent Newspaper Limited, recognizes Governor Mutfwang’s extensive community-focused initiatives within the Jos Bukuru metropolis and throughout Plateau State Local Government Areas.
At the ceremony held at the Eko Hotel in Lagos on Saturday, the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, received the award on his behalf.
Mutfwang dedicated the award to God and the entire people of Plateau State for their steadfast support to his administration since it came into office.
Over the past 11 months, Mutfwang administratiion has concentrated on establishing on robust infrastructure, revitalizing the city centre, and enhancing the state’s economy for the collective benefit of all irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
Among the key projects highlighted by Governor Mutfwang are the rivival of defunct rail transport system, the introduction of Modern MAN-Diesel buses for Plateau Express Services Limited, and the ongoing road rehabilitation and construction within the Greater Jos Master Plan and its neighbouring local governments. These initiatives are part of the broader strategy to improve service delivery across the state.
Governor Mutfwang urged the media to collaborate with his administration in its commitment to restoring peace, security and facilitating the return of the internally Displaced Persons Persons (IDP’s) to their ancestral homes.
Steve Omanufeme, Managing Director/ Editor-in-Chief of Daily Independent Newspapers, welcomed the guests to the event and commended the awardees for their meritorious contributions to their states and, by extension, to Nigeria.
The event also celebrated the achievements of other distinguished governors including Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun of Ogun State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom, and Dr. Kefas Agbu of Taraba State, among various notable figures.
