In rather a strange turnout of events, the former Member representing Jos East/Jos South Federal Constituency has attempted to upstage Senator Jonah David Jang in his Local Government of Jos South.
In the build up of the Local Government primary election, stakeholders had agreed to stick to the zoning arrangement – there …implying that Du, a community in Jos South Local Government is to produce the next flag bearer of the Party.
With a general feeling, that out respect for the former Plateau State Governor and elder statesman, Senator Jonah David Jang presents a candidate in which case he forwarded his nephew Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, but fierce resistance emanated from Hon. Dachung Bogos’ camp.
Bogos, a former lawmaker, however sponsored his Senior Legislative Aide, Mr Pwajok Langs to contest against the candidate presented by Senator Jang.
It was gathered that despite several appeals from various quarters including top officials, he and his camp insisted on executing the script to perfection.
However, Hon. Patrick Silas Dung emerged winner of the election by a landslide with a total of 39 votes, while Bogos candidate – Mr Patrick Langs polled 20.
Trouble began earlier, when PDP Chairman in Jos South, Hon Dung Tari was abducted and the need to have someone to serve in acting capacity arose.
With Senate Jang suggesting that the Vice Chairman, Hon.Bon Samuel step into that role, Mr Bogos resisted all appeals to this regard until the State Party executives intervened in the matter.
As the odds will play out, Hon. Dung regained his freedom and returned to his position as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jos South Local Government Area.
It remains to be seen how developments continue to unfold in this regard as the Local Government election approach on October 9th, 2024.
