American singer Chris Brown has been sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months, after pleading guilty to affray.
The sentence means the Grammy-winning R&B star will not serve the eight-month prison term immediately, provided he complies with the conditions of the suspended sentence and does not commit a further offence, which could trigger its activation.
Brown, known for hits including Run It!, Kiss Kiss and With You, has previously faced legal controversies during his career.
The case relates to an incident at a London nightclub in 2023, which led to criminal proceedings against the singer.
Brown subsequently admitted the offence of affray, a criminal charge under English law involving the use or threat of unlawful violence that would cause a person of reasonable firmness to fear for their safety.
Although the suspended sentence allows Brown to avoid immediate imprisonment, it remains a prison sentence.
