Popular Nigerian Socialite, Obinna Iyiegbu, professionally known as Obi Cubana has said that no individual who built a brand will run down a brand.
In his latest interview with Chude Jideonwo, Cubana said that it’s not possible for anyone who worked tirelessly to build a brand in Nigeria, go on to run it down.
“You hardly see any person who has built a brand, running down a brand.
“It’s not possible because they know the sleepless nights, they know the efforts, they know the sacrifices for you to grow a brand in Nigeria that will last for five years.” He said.
He said that he once prayed to God that; “In the next ten years I will own one of the biggest nightclubs in Abuja”.
In the same interview, Cubana recounted on how he was accused of using his then sick wife for money ritual following the come up of his hospitality enterprise.
According to him, it was his friends that circulated such allegations, insisting that most people don’t know what he’s been through with his wife, Ebele.
“So, my wife, after she gave birth on Valentine’s Day, developed a strange illness.
“Someone called me and said, ‘See what they are hearing – that I went to use my wife for juju,’ and it was my friend.” He said.
He then emphasized; “When people see me and my wife very close, they don’t know what we’ve been through.
“She was battling for her life, but she was rooting for me to go back and finish my dream because she knew how passionate I was about this project.”
Cubana further disclosed the reason behind the befitting funeral ceremony he orchestrated for his late mother in 2021, exposing that his family has a history of not living beyond the age of 80.
“In my family, I am saying it for the first time: nobody has lived up to 80. My father died at 66, my father’s brother died at 75, my grandfather died at 78, and I told my mum, ‘You will break this.” He said.
He highlighted that he had promised to hold such event if his mother reached the intended milestone.
“I told her to break it if it’s a generational curse or something. I promised her that for the burial I would throw for her, nobody would break, and we started saving up for that.” He added.
Obi Cubana’s mother died aged 78.
