Tea vendor reportedly beats teenager to death over stolen bread, noodles in Jigawa

A 40-year-old tea vendor identified as Abdulrashibu Ya’u has allegedly beaten a 20 -year -old Hussain Garba to death over stolen bread, milk and noodles.

The suspect who resides in Sararai village, Jigawar Tsada town, Dutse Local Government Area, Jigawa State was arrested by the police for alleged murder.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the suspect was arrested after a report of torture and murder was received by the police.

The incident occurred on August 19, when the 40 -year old suspect tied up and tortured the victim to death for stealing from him.

A police patrol team promptly responded to the scene, arresting the suspect and rushing the victim to the hospital for medical attention.

Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead by a medical doctor on duty at the Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital Dutse, Jigawa State.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to tying up and beating the teenager, stating that he was upset by the deceased’s actions, according to the PPRO.

He said neighbors reported hearing Garba’s cries for help but were unable to intervene until the arrival of the police officers.

The PPRO confirmed that the suspect will be arraigned in court once investigation are concluded.

“Following a thorough investigation, Ya’u will be arraigned in court to face the full weight of the law”, the PPRO said.
