Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has named the 72 Metro housing estate after Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Similarly, the Njimtilo 500 Housing Units have been named after Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
The projects were commissioned on Wednesday in the state capital, Maiduguri, where Buni made the official launching.
Also during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Zulum announced that the Shehu Sanda Kura Road has been renamed in honor of the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi.
The projects, he said are part of the state government’s efforts to provide housing, improve infrastructure, and foster growth in Borno State.
However, the Kashim Shettima Housing Estate, he noted, will be allocated to military officers, security personnel, and Federal Government workers, while houses within the Mai Mala 500 Housing Units will be allocated to police officers.
Emphasizing the importance of the projects, Zulum explained that they are designed to enhance life for residents, improve traffic flow, and boost activities.
In his remarks, Governor Buni expressed gratitude for the honor and commended Borno State’s dedication to recovery and development.
He highlighted Yobe State’s investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, and empowerment, and invited Governor Zulum to the commissioning of projects in Yobe State.
