In a bid to enhance youth safety and security across Nigeria, Olawande, Minister for Youth Development, paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The visit focused on fostering collaboration between the Ministry of Youth Development and the Nigeria Police Force to ensure the protection and empowerment of young Nigerians.
During the meeting, Olawande commended IGP Egbetokun for his dedication to the welfare of Nigerian youths and the commendable efforts of the Police in safeguarding the nation.
“IGP Egbetokun’s passion for the youth and his commitment to national security are truly commendable,” Olawande remarked.
The discussions centered on the need for a stronger partnership between the Ministry of Youth Development and the Police to address critical issues such as youth harassment, intimidation, and other security challenges.
Hon. Ayodele Olawande also emphasized the importance of collective efforts to eliminate incidents of harassment and create an environment where young people can thrive.
“This is the driving force behind the establishment of the Nigerian Youth Help Desk,” Hon. Ayodele Olawande noted, highlighting the platform’s role in addressing youth-related security concerns and fostering trust between young Nigerians and law enforcement agencies.
The Inspector-General expressed his readiness to collaborate with the Ministry and pledged the Police Force’s commitment to protecting the youth while ensuring a secure and inclusive society.
The visit marks a significant step toward creating a safer environment for Nigerian youths and strengthening their relationship with security agencies.
