Tinubu Appoints Ayo Sotinrin MD of Bank of Agriculture

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Ayo Sotinrin as the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, with the appointment taking immediate effect.

This was revealed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information Bayo Onanuga today.

The appointment of Mr. Sotinrin, a seasoned professional with extensive experience across the private and public sectors, is seen as a strategic move to revitalise Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.

Before his appointment, Sotinrin served as Group Chief Executive Officer of the SAO Group, where he led SAO Agro in spearheading major agricultural ventures. 

Among his notable initiatives is the development of a 20,000-hectare oil palm plantation, alongside large-scale poultry, aquaculture, maize, and cassava projects in Ondo State.

Under his leadership at SAO Capital, he facilitated the mobilisation of over $750 million in infrastructure and development finance, including the $200 million Akure Water Supply Project.

Sotinrin also has experience in governance, having served as Special Adviser on Environment and Urban Development to the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory from 2011 to 2015. 

His international career includes stints with the Royal Bank of Scotland International, Deutsche Bank, and the UK Environment Agency.

An alumnus of Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, Sotinrin holds an Executive MBA, a Master’s degree in Engineering Business Management from Warwick University.

In announcing the appointment, President Tinubu said Mr. Sotinrin’s track record positions him to lead the Bank of Agriculture to achieve food security and rural prosperity.
