President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to the late Alh. Aminu Dantata, describing him as “family” and a symbol of humility, generosity, and integrity.

During a condolence visit to Kano on Friday, Tinubu said the loss felt personal, as Dantata was more than a mentor but part of his family.

A statement about the visit was issued by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, and made available to newsmen on Friday in Abuja.

The renowned industrialist passed away in Dubai on June 28 at the age of 94 and was buried in Madina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1.

Tinubu recalled Dantata’s guidance and prayers during the build-up to the 2023 presidential election, saying they were deeply inspiring.

“This is a very personal visit. I came to condole with the Dantata family and the good people of Kano. He was part of my family.

“I sought his prayers before the election, and he gave his blessings. I planned to thank him in person, but he came to Abuja instead.

“That was who he was, humble, sincere, and selfless,” the President said, reflecting on Dantata’s simple and noble character.

Tinubu described Dantata as a man who lived for others and stood as a moral guide for the nation.

“If friendship exists in the hereafter, Dantata would be there feeding the hungry and comforting the sick. He served country and humanity selflessly,” he said.

The President extended his condolences to the Dantata family, the people of Kano, and the nation as a whole.

“We have lost a titan, the conscience of our country. May Allah, in His mercy, grant him Aljannah Firdaus,” Tinubu prayed.

He also asked for divine comfort, peace, and strength for the bereaved family and others mourning the late statesman.

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State thanked Tinubu for his compassion and strong support during the mourning period.

He noted that the President sent a federal delegation to the Saudi funeral, led by the Defence Minister.

“The while process was seamless, thanks to your leadership and support,” the governor added.

“We appreciate your outreach to Saudi and Dubai authorities, which helped facilitate necessary arrangements. We remain deeply grateful,” he said.

Alh. Tajudeen Dantata, the eldest son of the deceased, expressed heartfelt thanks for the President’s personal support and friendship.

“Your swift and heartfelt response after our father’s death meant a great deal to our family.

“We cannot thank you enough. In life and death, you proved he was your brother and friend.

“We saw your bond with him before you became President, and how you honoured him after his passing. We are truly grateful,” he said.

Tinubu was accompanied by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin.

Also present were Defence Minister, Mohammed Badaru, National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and Women Affairs Minister, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.

The Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmud, and Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Ahmad, also joined the visit.

Other dignitaries included Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and elder statesman Alh. Tanko Yakassai.

Alh, Mohammed Indimi was also among the notable attendees who paid respects during the condolence visit.
