The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced plans to mobilize no fewer than 650,000 graduates for the compulsory one-year service programme in 2026.
NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye disclosed this in Abuja during the 7th National Day of Identity organized by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
He noted that about 400,000 corps members were mobilized in 2025, highlighting the crucial role of a secure Nation Identity Database in the mobililistion process.
Oluseye explained that the integration of National Identity Numbers (NIN), has strengthed transparency and curbed fraud, citing past attempts at multiple registrations that were exposed through the system.
He commented the NYSC -NIMC collaboration, stressing that the reforms that have eliminated fake enrolments and make mobilisation more efficient.
