The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has again reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly called petrol or fuel, at its retail outlets.

Checks by journalists across parts of Abuja on Monday, January 5, morning revealed that NNPCL filling stations have adjusted their petrol price downward to ₦815 per litre, from the previous ₦835 per litre.

9news Nigeria reports that the latest adjustment represents a ₦20 reduction in the pump price at NNPCL outlets.

According to Daily Post, its findings showed that the fresh price has already been implemented at several NNPCL retail outlets across the Federal Capital Territory.

These include NNPCL filling stations located in Wuse Zone 6 and Wuse Zone 4, along the Keffi–Abuja Road, as well as on the Kubwa Expressway.

An attendant at one of the NNPCL stations, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the development.

“The new price was implemented on Sunday evening,” the attendant told Daily Post.

Truthng reports that despite the latest reduction, the ₦815 per litre pump price remains ₦79 higher than the price sold at Dangote Refinery-backed MRS filling stations across the country.

MRS stations currently dispense petrol at ₦739 per litre nationwide, following recent price cuts linked to Dangote Refinery’s reduced gantry price.

Recall that NNPCL had earlier, on December 19, 2025, slashed the pump price of petrol by ₦80, bringing it down to ₦835 per litre.

The reduction came amid an intensifying price war in Nigeria’s oil downstream sector, triggered by Dangote Refinery’s decision to cut its gantry price to ₦699 per litre.

Ongoing adjustments by major players in the sector continue to influence retail prices nationwide, with consumers closely monitoring further changes at filling stations.
