Morocco talisman Brahim Diaz reportedly apologized to the entire team in the dressing room before breaking down in tears, following a tense situation that left the squad deeply affected.

The attacker is understood to have addressed the entire squad in the locker room shortly after the incident, accepting full responsibility for the miss that proved costly to the team campaign.

Witness disclosed that Diaz became emotional during the apology, eventually breaking down in tears as he spoke to his teammates.

Sources close to the team revealed that several senior players were visibly angered by the situation, reflecting the depth of disappointment within the camp.

However, the atmosphere is said to be tense and somber, with players struggling to come to terms with the outcome.

Diaz missed a dramatic penalty as Senegal returned to the pitch following a brief protest during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final on Sunday night.

The Real Madrid star attempted panenka chip from the spot but failed to convert, squandering a golden opportunity to secure the trophy for Morocco in front of a packed Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah.

The penalty incident came amid tense and extraordinary scenes in the final.

Senegal players had initially walked off the pitch in protest after the centre referee awarded a late spot-kick to Morocco, arguing against the decision. After several minute of discussions and appeals, the Senegalese team returned to the field, allowing the match to resume.

Diaz, was unable to capitalise on the moment, as his effort did not beat the Senegalese goalkeeper.

The missed penalty has left the team devastated, as the setback brought painful end to their AFCON 2025 ambitions.

The episode has reportedly shaken the atmosphere, raising concerns about unity and morale within the Moroccan team moving forward.
