An unidentified woman has died following a fire incident at a residential building along Ikpa Road in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, in the early hours of Tuesday, July 21.
According to information shared online by social media user Frank Tochukwu Fidelis, the victim had accompanied a male companion to the residence after the pair reportedly met at a nightclub earlier that night.
Reports indicate that the fire broke out at about 5:30 a.m., destroying property worth millions of naira. While the male occupant reportedly escaped the burning building unharmed, the woman was trapped inside and died from severe burns sustained in the incident.
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially determined, and authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
