Former presidential spokesman Reuben Abati has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is facing a political dilemma over his association with the APC governors and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Abati on Wednesday, said that the President may be required to clarify where he stands following differences between the APC governors and Wike over support for Tinubu’s re-election.
“Now it’s President Tinubu that has been put on the spot. He is faced with a choice. Is he going to choose APC governors, or is he going to choose Wike?” Abati said.
“The President is in a tight situation. Will the President take the step of coming out publicly to say, ‘I stand by the APC governors,’ or will he say he will stand with his machinery, Wike?”
Wike, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said on Tuesday that his political support for 2027 was specifically for Tinubu’s re-election and did not extend to APC candidates seeking governorship or legislative seats.
The APC governors, meanwhile, have opposed political arrangements they believe could weaken the party or its candidates.
