Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in 2027 while questioning the record of former governor and presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Soludo, who has previously called on voters in the South-East to support Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, questioned what Obi had done for the Igbo people during his years in politics.
The state government has released records challenging Obi’s position, while Obi has rejected the allegations and maintained that he settled obligations due before leaving office.
“Ask him, since he has been in politics, what has he brought for the Igbos? Look at the bad state and erosion in Anambra for a long time. Since he started politics, what has he done about it?” Soludo said.
He accused politicians of appealing to ethnic sentiments during election periods, urging voters in the South-East to take a different approach in 2027.
“Then, when it’s time for election, you come and start playing with our emotions and still want us to waste our votes on you and remain where we are. It won’t happen again. 2027 will be different,” he said.
Soludo said the Igbo people should seek what he described as their “own share” through their electoral choices.
“We Igbos will get our own share this time around by voting right,” the governor added.
Soludo has publicly endorsed Tinubu, while Obi, who governed Anambra from 2006 to 2014, is also preparing to contest the presidential election.
